Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Jared Michael
Nickerson began playing bass in high school in the Dayton, Ohio talent show
circuit.
After receiving a B.A in business at Notre Dame, he studied for two years
at
the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
Returning to Ohio, he joined the band Human Switchboard. In 1984, together with
the band, he moved to New York City and burst into the ‘80s music scene.
He has since played with The Yohimbe Brothers, Marc Anthony Thompson, The Roots,
Catie Curtis, John Paul Bourelly, The Raybeats and Katell Keineg. He has recorded
and toured with Bernie Worrell, Wadada Leo Smith, Freedy Johnston, Vernon Reid,
Gary Lucas, Tammy Faye Starlite and the Angels of Mercy and Matt Johnson with
The The, among others.
Amongst his television appearances, he was a member of The Kennedy Center Honors
BB King Tribute Band, which included Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, Etta James and Joe
Williams.
