Artsplosure’s mission is to produce quality events that make the works of the most imaginative and celebrated artists accessible to the public – all in an effort to enrich our community and inspire greater love for the visual and performing arts.
Artsplosure, conceived in 1978 by subcommittees of the newly formed City of Raleigh Arts Commission, is dedicated to a citywide arts festival that would combine an “explosion” of art activity with people’s “exposure” to all types of art. The following year, Artsplosure was incorporated to produce high quality and accessible arts festivals and to identify, nurture, and showcase artists seeking to reach wider audiences. Since its first festival in April 1980, Artsplosure has presented thousands of established and emerging artists whose works span across many disciplines and art forms in both traditional and non-traditional indoor venues and outdoor settings.
Kidsplosure is a free, kid-centric section of Artsplosure (all of the festival is totally family friendly, but Kidsplosure is ALL about kids). There will be musical performances, a magic show, and tons of crafts including paper marbling, foam soap prints, community weaving and so much more!
The two-days of performances will be accompanied with an Art Market featuring over 170 vendors from around the country. The market will be open from eleven am to seven pm on Saturday and ten am to six pm on Sunday. Note the Sunday Art Market will be open specifically for folks with accessibility needs from ten am to eleven am.
